BackJoleon Lescott has been ruled out of Manchester City's last two Premier League games, but the defender is expected to be fit for the World Cup.
City boss Roberto Mancini says Lescott is struggling with hamstring trouble. But Mancini is confident he will be ready if required for Fabio Capello's England squad in South Africa in June.
"I hope Joleon will be fit for the World Cup," said Mancini. "He has another 14 days after the Premier League season finishes."
Lescott has managed 24 City appearances since being signed on 25 August. In December the former Everton player had a knee operation and the 27-year-old had barely returned to regular duty when he injured his hamstring in March.
Although Capello does not name his squad until 1 June, Lescott's lack of match practice since the start of the calendar year is not in his favour. But Mancini is hopeful his fellow Italian will give the player a chance

sixtysix I don't think Lescott is good enough to go half fit. With your big players, the likes of Rooney and Gerrard, we need them there, even if they are only 80% fit. However, with the fringe players such as Lescott they need to be at their best to cope with the level of the tournament. There are a lot better central defenders such as Dawson, Upson and Cahill.
