Euro 2012's dream is over (#503) on 25-06-2012 at 10:35:18
Euro 2012 is over, at least for England.
Seriously, can we not find another way to decide knockout games where England are involved?
England were outplayed for most of a quarter-final that finished goalless after 120 minutes, before Italy won 4-2 on spot-kicks. Ashley Cole missed the decisive penalty as well as Ashley Young, but Hodgson insists of backing both of them as he thinks England can be proud of what they do.
Anyone who hadn't watched the match might say the game was so tied that it was unfair to loose the chance of passing trhough semi-finals. But Italy were superior and all international press are claiming so.
Although England defend played brilliantly it was the Italian team who deserved to play the next match against Germany by their much more imaginative and playmaking game.
Maybe it was Hodgson's planification or maybe not, what's clear is that, as Police used to tell us, we still haven't found what we're looking for...

I didn't think we would go any further, I think Hodgson took no risks and this is why we lost. When you get the role of the absolute defender you are kind of assuming you are the one that has less chances.
I didn't like England yestarday, I think they are much more than the football they showed yesterday. Poor, boring... And I don't even think they deserved getting to penalties,
I think Italy should have scored in the first part and close the match with that result. I was disappointed yestarday, because Hodgson had been speaking as if he was going to offer such an ambitious performance and I didn't see anything else than fear.
If we behavied like this against Italy, what did you expect to happen against Germany or Spain?
I'm angry because I think we have the players, we have the potential and I don't know what are we waiting for to show it to the world...
Roy Hodgson out, and come on England even thought this time it's over. We'll have many other chances.
